Nature's Frosting
Good morning campers! BRRRrrr it's COLD outside! Remind you of Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day?
Well, this morning we awoke to a lovely sight. The surfaces and edges of everything were covered in a thick, crystalline frost.
While it was 36 degrees this morning, I was so inspired by the beauty that I went outside in my bathrobe and wet hair to take a few photos.

How are you feeling about the season?
I'm looking forward to the pending holiday season. Not because I particularly like the overly-marketed and grotesquely-engineered holiday commercialism... but because it gives us something to focus on in the dull-cold-dinginess of this particular time of year. The lights, the music, the excitement of celebrating with family and friends. The nostalgia of the year ending. It's dark. It's dark when I get up and dark when I return home from work. When it's sunny, it's terribly cold outside. When it's cloudy, it snows. Sometimes a lot. To combat the snow and the cold you have to wear six layers of clothing. So dressing in the morning takes you ten minutes longer.
In spite of these things, as we get closer to December, the homes and streets begin to twinkle with light. When precipitation falls, theses lights illuminate the snow giving it an iridescent glow. The world becomes a winter wonderland.
Winter also brings on nostalgia for some reason. Seeing holiday trees, and toys, and hearing carols on the radio, we're transported back in time to childhood. My husband works second shift, and sometimes when he arrives home late at night, I'll join him in the garage. We sit on stools at his workbench, listening to holiday music - the neon beer signs illuminating the corner recesses of our cozy little space. It's silly. We reminisce about Christmas past and feel at peace. Do you believe? Actually, yes we do.
Our life usually gets a bit topsy-turvy in the summer and fall months. WE hope to return to a steadier routine this winter. I would like to spend more time creating, reading, and blogging. Have a wonderful weekend!
