One of the important things to note about his list is I've never had a definitive path.  I've jumped on opportunities as they've come up.  One of the critical things I think that's been a great influence in my happiness and success, has been my constant search for learning something new.  While I never claim to be an expert at any one thing, having knowledge in many disciplines is beneficial.  Welding has given me courage.  Working in retail has given me skills to speak with strangers.  Working for large or small enterprises has very different dynamics.  So whether you like your job or not, at least look for something you can learn from it and take it with you.
