Blog A Day

Day 15: Introduce us to your family; pictures and bio’s (include your pets)
Husband, Tom:

He was born and bread in Wisconsin, and when I finally hooked up with him he had only been to Disney World and Six Flags in Gurnee, IL. I have successfully turned his head from his former way of thinking, "...what else it there?" and made him a world traveler. Working on motors (motorcycles, go-karts, snowmobiles) is his passion. Also his yard. I have to admit we have a beautiful yard, and it's all due to his effort. He's handy too... helps me with my garden projects, and he's capable of running wiring for light fixtures. I knew he was a "keeper" a long time ago. This October we'll be celebrating lucky anniversary number 13.

Beloved pet, Bailey:

He is a basset mix. We're not 100% sure what the mix is, as he's very, very basset-like. He's the love of my life, it's true. He's our homeland security officer, our child, our comfort pillow when we're blue. He sheds. We comb him every day, and can make an entirely new dog from the hair. That's OK... as when you look into his eyes, and see the tail wag... it's all worth it. He's well behaved but obstinate.  He responds to commands, but will ignore you when on a scent.  Thank goodness for that white tail, as that's all we see as it disappears into the woods.  "Talk to the tail because the head's not listening."

Myself, Shelley:

I come from a family of Nomads. Well, not really but I moved around a lot as a kid and later as an adult. I admit a I get a little stir crazy if I'm stuck in one place too long. So to keep things interesting I engage in whatever interests me. Today it's welding, blogging, motorcycle driving, yoga, gardening and cooking. Tomorrow who knows! This summer I'm studying French in preparation for a culinary excursion to the Loir region of France with girlfriends. (So exciting!)
