Never Without

Blog A Day

Day 16: What are 3 things you can’t live without excluding your family? We all can’t live without our family so take them out of this one

Respectfully, thinking of three things may be a stretch.  Off the bat I can only think of one.  Some may immediately jump to God or a faux food group (chocolate) or I could be a smart-a** and say water or shelter.  I learned a long time ago to be self-reliant and to never get attached to things because nothing belongs to you.  Everything is temporary.  In essence you should be prepared to live without anything.  One of the top survival skills needed in today's world.

1. Computer (Internet):  I lump these two things in as one.  We could even define it as computer technology.  I could not live without access to information and the outside world.  It has made my life richer and easier.  For example without it I wouldn't have connected to a world of tremendous women bloggers.  Or would have lost my mind if I weren't able to Google medical information about what's ailing my dog.  My tablet successfully navigated us through Ireland.  One may argue how bad could it be to "get lost" in Ireland, but... it also gave us access to information about places we may have passed up.

2.  Nature:  I know nature is all around us.  Even in the city.  Specifically I mean the elements of nature.  Rain, wind, soil, plant-life.  I would have to have access to natural sunlight, air, and flora and fauna.  The best part of my days are spent in my garden or walking in the conservancy.  I breath in the scents suspended in the air, absorb the warmth (or cool) on my skin, listen to the sounds of the wind in the trees for the answers that calm my mind.

3.  Good humor:  The last thing I couldn't live without would be my sense of humor.  As Dolly Parton said, "Laughter through tear is my favorite emotion."  I agree.  I'm blessed by the fact my husband and I both love to find the humor in everyday things.  It keeps us buoyant and sane, specially when there isn't a lick to watch on television.  'Nuf said.

OK... so I guess I could come up with three things.  Interesting.
