Movies and Moments
Blog a day
Day 28: What are your top 5 favorite movies?
Difficult question, as I love movies of all genres. The recent ones include Skyfall and Girl with the Dragon Tatoo. I love series films too; Harry Potter, Iron Man and X-men. However, to narrow down to the films I've adored watching over and over again, I'll narrow this list to top five genres.
Classic Film Making:
Casablanca (Bogie and Bacall)
The Sting (Newman and Redford)
Science Fiction and Special Effects:
Star Wars (original episode w/Luke and Han)
Chick Flicks
Steal Magnolias (should have brought more tissues)
Working Girl (...she did it!)
Thrillers
Rear Window (Hitchcock)
Poltergeist (Spielberg)
Coming of Age
Breakfast Club (X-Gen)
Big Chill (Boomers)
Day 29: Talk about one of the best moments of your life
I wouldn't be able to focus on one "best" moment of my life. I don't have anything as monumental to share, like many who would automatically go to the moment their children were put into their arms for the first time. Since Tom and I don't have children this leaves us out. So I'm going to have to reach into the chapters of my life that perhaps have included adventure and a bit of soul searching.
I love the outdoors. Some of my best moments have been in discovery of the beauty of nature.

I love the outdoors. Some of my best moments have been in discovery of the beauty of nature.
- A ski-lift journey that placed me atop a snow-laden summit of the Rockies. Facing a seemingly endless horizon of mountain peaks, it was beauty I'd never imagined existed.
- An automobile journey through Ireland that wove us about Kelly-green pastures and constantly surprised us with a landscape quilted with so many beautiful jewels of color it took our breath away.
Soulful. As an artist we are sometimes focused on big picture stuff, searching for a way to describe a meaning to life.
- An encounter with a stranger in the woods left me awed by kindness. Flash-back to college and a trip to a state park for some nature photos. Was lost when a elder-woman discovered me and lead the way back. She was so spiritual in her demeanor and appearance that it left me wondering if she was a ghost.
- Quiet time with Tom. He is a still soul. I look forward to Sunday evenings with just him. In summertime we can relax on the deck and meditate to the sounds of the wind chime and a breeze through the trees. With him beside me I'm able to be still and concentrate on the calm.
