Sunshine! That'll do it.

It's funny the small things it takes to lift our spirits, to drive our motivation, to inspire... today it's simple sunshine.

We've had over two weeks of constant showers, and snow... and clouds.  April has been a dreary, wet, cold month for us in the Midwest.

Compared to last year, when temperatures were unseasonably warm.  We were spoiled.

However this year, the opposite is true - we are unseasonably cold and damp.

I've been trying to capture the evolution of life in my garden, as my various perennials awaken.  By comparing them to the photos from last year, it has been night and day.

Each week I can see a bit more progress, but I'm also witness to some frightening frost that has the potential to kill my precious flowers off before they get a chance at life this year.

Here is my example.  This photo was taken on April 14, 2012.  I know the date because I hosted a "Titantic" party to commemorate 100 years since the sinking of the epic but doomed ship.  {We were in costume, and I wanted my photo taken in the garden with my lace and romantic garb on.}

Photo taken on April 20, 2013.  Tremendous difference.

Well, today the sunshine is out.  The temperatures are still cool, but will likely rise into the 50's next week.  For those in warmer climbs, this may seem insignificant, but to us in Wisconsin - those ARE warm temperatures.  I'm hoping the sunshine is the defibrillator that resuscitates life back into the garden.

Well here's to a ray of sunshine finding it's way to you.  [Insert Sunshine song of your choice here...]
