Photo Shoot_Shooting 10:10
Another Ten on Ten is here. To recap this is a monthly, global event hosted by the brilliant and talented Rebekah Gough. The purpose is to capture beauty in ordinary things by creating a photo journal of 10 photos in 10 hours in a single day.
Ironically today I'm working a photo shoot at a motorcycle dealership in Milwaukee. Building assets for a "Women's Garage Party" program. This is where 10:10 gets a bit tricky, as the photos taken for this project are privileged... so I have to be kind of creative with my private shoot.
5:30 a.m.
Up and at 'em... remembered to put the camera by the bed. My alarm chirps bird sounds... friendlier than a bleeping sound. It's dark...cold...AND it snowed last night.
6:30 a.m.
Coffee's ready... showered, dressed. Leaving just in time... no telling how slow traffic will be this morning.
7:30 a.m.
Early arrival. Need to move bikes, move apparel racks, stage the showroom for the various photo stations. The photo represents what we need to accomplish today - to have fun! (You have to be a moto-head to appreciate the skill and artistry of this burn out). (eh-hem.)
8:30 a.m.
The "models" have arrived. They are all volunteers, employees of the motor company. The bikes are staged, the lighting set... we're ready to get started! The photo of the large bar and shield emblem hangs just above the entrance of showroom.
9:30 a.m.
The shoot is going well. This scene is "jumpstart", wherein a cycle is mounted to a platform, allowing a rider to "drive", shifting gears and revving the motor, without actually going anywhere. This is where you see the exhilaration on the faces of women when they feel the power of the bike for the first time. The photo captures a co-worker who has never driven a bike before - (I think we have her hooked!)
11:00 a.m.
The shoot is still going well, the ladies have completed several of the party stations. Next is "bike lift". This is particularly grueling for the demonstrator, as it will take several shots, and she has to repeatedly lift this 500+ pound bike many times. (This is a good butt and leg workout...)
12:00 p.m.
Lunch break. We're all upstairs in the bar area. The owner has a marvelous collection of Harley bar signs, vintage ads... and a H-D Barbie doll collection. Yes, Barbie looks "bad" in her H-D gear! I took a shot of the showroom, decked out for Christmas.

2:00 p.m.
Almost done. Taking a few shots of various models on bikes to fill in our missing assets. I'm taking a few shots around the dealership. This is a line of motorcycles awaiting winterization. (I was intrigued by the pattern of the seats, handlebars and mirrors.)
4:00 p.m.
Got home early, it was still light out.... and the clouds were just beautiful. Decided to grab my camera and take the dog for a walk to capture winter's first snow fall... and the beautiful clouds.
6:00 p.m.
Dog's fed. Fish are fed. I threw together a stew for Tom tonight, while I nuked some leftovers. Poured myself a glass of Z... so I could sit down to work on my Ten on Ten before reading a bit, and going to bed. It was a long day, and hard work - but fun.
Happy Ten on Ten everyone!
