Happy Harley-Days

Well here we are.  The end of 2012.  It has been a Year of the Dragon and I caught the tail of it back in August. However, the world keeps spinning and so did I, and I find myself celebrating Christmas with a whole new attitude.

It's all about attitude.  Your attitude determines whether you're happy or unhappy.  Offended or forgiving.  Harley-Davidson has attitude down in spades.  While their advertising takes on a rebellious tone its message is clear - the right attitude is rewarding.

It's been a few days since I've written anything in this blog.  The time gets away from me or my thoughts are too scattered to focus on creating a cohesive story.  I've been actively peering around my world and see so many wonderfully ordinary things that lift my spirits.

  • I love the decorated homes along Highland Drive... a neighborhood of cream-city brick homes built in the '30's.  In the evening the Christmas lights illuminate the boulevard - a real "Bedford Falls" community in the heart of the industrial valley of Milwaukee.
  • I love the fact that I regularly see a Washington Heights resident walking his neighborhood in the morning - a man with a snowy white beard, a belly and coon skin cap.  (You're not fooling anyone, we know it's you Santa!)
  • I love the artwork on the walls of my office building - oversized prints of vintage Harley-Davidson magazine ads.
  • I love snowstorms.  We just got a doozy.  Everything is thickly iced.  Pine trees droop to the ground laden with heavy snow.  Christmas lights burn from beneath curtains of ice.  It's beautiful.  A true wonderland.
  • I love the fact my work puts up Christmas lights and people walk around wishing each other a happy holiday without reservation.

So happy holidays from this Harley chick - a chick with a new attitude and a heart full of happiness because of it.
