One Day at a Time

My little sister (who, in my head, is still 9 years old with long red braids... but is really 40) sent me flowers.  Thoughtful.  She also called to check in to see if I'm still living.  (Unfortunately yes I am.)  She told me to take things one day a time.  Tackle your problems one at a time starting with the small things.  Interestingly the strategy I've practiced has a completely opposite approach.  "Prioritize" has been the buzz word in the corporate world.  What does that mean?  Let the small stuff fall through and only tackle the big stuff.  "Think not about today, but about the future - sustainability..."  I'm confused.

She's right.  This shy girl from rural Ohio is absolutely right.  Since when does the little sister take care of the big sister anyway?  I'm supposed to be the know-it-all, the caretaker, the protector.  Thanks little sis for your poignant advice - which I'll take willingly.  One day at a time, one day at a time.  One day at a time.
