15 Minutes with (wo)Man's Best Friend
My faithful dog. He loves me when I'm doing nothing. He loves me when I'm cooking something flavorful. He loves me when I ignore him too. I work 127,000 hours a week (well it feels like it...), and yesterday I worked from home with the door closed so he couldn't "bug" me. I have to remind myself what is important and what is not. What is not important is wasting time responding to a stupid, whiny co-worker who really needs a lesson in "solving the problems on your own BEFORE asking investment of others to fix their mistake".
What is important is taking 15 minutes of my life to take my best friend, (who is with me through thick and thin), for a walk on a sunny, warm day. He was happy to run and frolic a bit; enough to make him require a nap for the rest of the afternoon. The bonus is the fresh air gave me perspective - I'm not so angry now and I may respond with more empathy now to the nagging email...yeah... they need to learn to solve issues more resourcefully... they maybe need a dog.
