It's not all about talk, talk, talk

Pleased to learn The Artist won big at Golden Globes.  Saw the film two weeks ago and was wonderfully entertained.  My friend, had never seen Singing in the Rain from 1952, so didn't have the same frame of reference I did.  She wasn't moved and I was sad for her.  While the correlation between the two movies and the comedic antics of the main character were important to the 2011 film; the film succeeded pushing the story to give it an edge that captured the attention of the new millennium audience.
